Week 6
This week, our class went to Brickfields for field trip where we would took pictures of signs, symbols or anything that reflects a culture in Malaysia. First we go to NU central where we met Ms. Jinchi to give us an instruction about what we should do while we were there. It's good to go along in a group so it's safer.
Week 7
On the seventh week, Ms. Jinchi asked us to print a pdf file about Visual Social Semiotics : Understanding How Still Images Make Meaning, which we can found in Times. After that we were divided into groups of 3-4 again to read and understand what is Visual Social Semiotics about, and then when the time is up, Ms. Jinchi would come to each group to discuss about what we have learnt and the progression of the assignment, what kind of issue that we chose and researchs that we have did so far.
Week 8
The class just started with Ms. Jinchi checking on our progress in each groups one by one, while giving a feedback and ideas on how we could improve on the ideas. The problem, the cause, and the solution so far have to be included in the research, and we have to think a way from our minds of how we could solve this issue as a designer.
Week 9
This week got no class due to something came up with the lecturer, so she just asked us to send the progress of our work to her email, and she would reply with the feedback clearly, and we have to fix those parts that were asked to. Mine for example, have to give strenghts and weaknesses of the solutions that I got for my Issue, and add a Malaysia Art Form that have to be related to my Issue.
Week 10
On week 10, we have to consult with Ms. Jinchi on one to one conversation, while presenting our progression so far with some sketches of how we solve the problem ( Visualize it ). And when Ms. Jinchi saw my idea to solve this problem, she looks excited because it was quite a nice idea. So i think I did a good job on it. And my Malaysian art that I chose can really connect with the issue that I chose.
Week 11
This week is the presentation, and we were expected to present our work in 3 minutes briefly about our issue and more on the idea to solve the problem. It was not good as I am aware that my final product of my idea is not as expected and seems like i'm not even trying when I do.

Final Assignment
At first I tought that this project just go as far as making sketches and showing our ideas on solving our issue that we chose. But NOPE, I was suprised when Ms. Jinchi told me to actually make a small real design of it. So yeah, I was quite shocked back then, and I stick to the point that I could just make a conceptual design of it, so i made it from a small box and cover it with white paper and draw the design on top of it. I chose batik Malaysia as my Malaysia Art Form, and I make it connected to my cleanliness issue somehow. So I think that I could design it in a certain way that the batik artform could be reflected in my conceptual design as you can see below.
I know it's not as expected, because my idea was litteraly making a rewarding garbage machine, where when you put something in it, it would give you a reward in return. After I presented, I can see that Ms. Jinchi is not happy with the final outcome as I looks like just made it carelessly without even trying. But she said that I have a really nice idea and concept of it. I know that I could improve on makig the conceptual design be a little bit more interactive, like the door can be opened or something. But I was so stressed out with lot of assignments that I could not think it through.

Side Look |
Well, so far I could say that I now can prepare better for presentations, because I wasn't good with presentation before. I can think the stuff that i'm gonna prepare to present, and communicate better at sending the message to the receiver better by making them understand the message easier, and be more critical in thinking about a certain work so I could perform better at it.
